Yeti Wurks Solar Infrastructure Node (Next Generation)
A refined successor to our long trusted RAK based Meshtastic/Meshcore base stations, the new Yeti Wurks Optimized Base Station (OBS) brings two years of field experience into a custom engineered PCB designed for superior efficiency, power handling and long term reliability. It preserves the strengths of the original platform while elevating nearly every aspect of performance and usability.
*Testing is underway, with production release targeted for January. Prototype photos may vary slightly from the final version as final refinements are completed.
Purpose Built for Off Grid Performance
This next generation design remains compatible with existing firmware, supports current enclosure setups and is engineered to withstand harsh outdoor deployments. It features advanced power management, an industrial temperature rating and targeted quality of life improvements, all while maintaining the same price target as the current base station line.

- XIAO NRF52 controller compatible with existing firmware in the web flasher
- Ebyte E22P 915 filtered 1 W LoRa radio
- TI BQ24650 high end charge controller with high and low temperature cutoff
- MPPT solar charge controller with manually selectable voltage ranges (5 V to 24 V)
- External power control where the enclosure button manages all power to the board
- Solar and charge circuitry continues charging even when the system is powered off
- Available as a complete node or as a bare PCB
- PCB compatible with common 100 x 150 x 70 mm enclosures with 100 mm screw spacing and no adapters needed
- Temperature rating from minus 40c to 85c for industrial grade performance
- Grove compatible GPS connection
- Long term off grid operation supported when paired with the D5 Solar Charger
- Qwiic/STEMMA I²C connector for simple sensor and peripheral integration

Power System
- Four slot 18650 parallel battery holder (batteries not included)
- Device can run from 1, 2, 3 or 4 batteries
- At least one battery required for proper operation when powering from the solar port
- Maximum supported battery length: 69 mm (tight fit at maximum length)
- External connection for solar chargers
- 5.5 x 2.1 mm (DC099) power jack
- Input voltage accepted: 5 V to 24 V DC
- Direct compatibility with Yeti Wurks D5 solar chargers
- Third party panels such as Goal Zero may require a plug size adapter
- Recommended minimum solar panel size: 5 W
Connectivity and Access
- IP65 rated USB C passthrough for device setup or charging
- External illuminated power button with soft blue ring indicating power status
- Light wires may be disconnected if desired

- When charging over USB, ensure the switch is in the on position

- Dimensions: approximately 100 x 150 x 70 mm (4 x 6 x 2.75 inches) excluding antenna
- Includes Porex PMV15 hydrophobic adhesive vent maintaining IP rating and allowing enclosure ventilation
Important Notes
- Do not power on or plug in USB without first attaching the antenna
Configuration Notes
- Device is preconfigured but all settings may be updated after receipt
- All Yeti Wurks base stations share the same secondary encrypted channel; you may add another if you want a separate private channel
- Changing the default Primary Channel or renaming it will break meshing compatibility with devices not using the same configuration
- Rear mounting holes accept M5 x 10 mm self tapping screws (length may vary by mounting surface)
